Position Summary
The Arena Security Dispatcher serves as the central communication hub for all security operations during events and non-event days. This position monitors radio traffic, CCTV systems, alarms, and access control systems to ensure the safety and security of guests, employees, and property. The dispatcher coordinates responses to incidents, maintains accurate documentation, and ensures clear communication between security personnel, event staff, law enforcement, and emergency services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate two-way radios, CCTV, fire and intrusion alarms, and access control systems.
- Dispatch security personnel to incidents, emergencies, and service calls promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate and detailed incident logs, radio traffic records, and reports.
- Communicate effectively with event staff, management, and outside agencies (police, fire, EMS).
- Assist in the coordination of emergency responses and evacuation procedures.
- Monitor credential access and support enforcement of access control policies.
- Track deployment of security officers, patrols, and post coverage during events.
- Relay important operational updates to supervisors and command staff in real time.
- Assist with lost and found procedures and documentation when necessary.
- Support post-event incident report collection and data entry.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communications.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or security-related coursework preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in security dispatching, public safety communications, or related field preferred.
- Experience in an arena, stadium, or large public venue environment highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal communication and multitasking skills under pressure.
- Proficient in using radio systems, CCTV monitoring software, and computer applications (Microsoft Office, incident management systems).
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and situational awareness.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick, sound decisions during emergencies.
- Familiarity with crowd management, emergency response protocols, and security operations.
Working Conditions
- Event-based schedules include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work performed in the Security Command Center with frequent radio and computer use.
- Must remain alert and focused for the duration of assigned shifts.
- May require occasional movement throughout the arena to assist during incidents.
- Must be able to work during major arena events and emergency situations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain seated for long periods while monitoring multiple screens.
- Ability to communicate clearly over radio and phone systems.
- Occasionally required to move around the arena to assist with incidents or inspections.
Licenses and Certifications (Preferred but not Required)
- CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
- Security License (if required by state or local jurisdiction)
- FEMA ICS 100/200 training (preferred)
