Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Event Supervisor, Event Security team members support Marquette University athletics and campus events in Milwaukee by helping create a safe, organized, and welcoming experience for every guest. From men's and women's basketball to volleyball, soccer, and other Golden Eagles events, team members are part of the action - maintaining a professional presence, assisting guests, monitoring assigned areas, and responding to changing event conditions. This flexible, event-based opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, staying active, and contributing to the energy of Marquette game day. Work is available year-round on an as-needed basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Follow and comply with all BEST, university, venue, safety, and work rules and regulations.
· Provide exceptional customer service to Marquette University, event guests, and visitors, including answering questions and giving directions to seating, parking, restrooms, medical stations, concessions, vendor locations, and other event areas.
· Monitor assigned premises, access points, doors, gates, and event areas to help prevent theft, violence, prohibited conduct, or other infractions of rules.
· Remain alert and aware of surroundings, appropriately address suspicious activity within training and post orders, and promptly report incidents or concerns to event leadership.
· Conduct assigned routine patrols and maintain frequent, professional radio communication with the security and event leadership team.
· Support event entry points through bag checks, guest screening, ticket scanning, credential verification, and other assigned access-control procedures.
· Protect university, venue, business, vendor, and guest assets while remaining mentally engaged throughout the event.
· Work indoors or outdoors in varying Milwaukee weather conditions, which may include heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, or other inclement weather.
· Stand or walk for extended periods while maintaining focus, professional body language, and a welcoming presence, and properly handle all assigned Company equipment.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be at least 18 years of age and able to perform job responsibilities professionally in a customer service-driven event environment.
· Strong attention to detail and consistent awareness of surroundings.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
· Adaptability and availability to respond effectively to changing information, guest needs, event conditions, and operational direction, including evenings, weekends, and game days.
· Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and meet all applicable assignment, licensing, registration, and training requirements.
Physical and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, observe, and communicate. The employee may be required to stand or walk for extended periods of time, including shifts of up to eight hours. On occasion, the employee may be required to climb stairs or ramps, work in elevated areas, stoop, bend, reach above the shoulders, or work in crowded or confined event spaces.
The employee must occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 45 pounds. Required visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment:
Work is performed at Marquette University athletic and campus event venues in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Assignments may take place indoors or outdoors and may involve large crowds, elevated noise levels, changing weather conditions, varying event schedules, and interaction with guests, university personnel, venue representatives, and public-safety partners.
